ETHICAL SOURCING

At PINNED, we believe the study and appreciation of natural history should never come at the expense of wildlife or the natural world.

All specimens used in our work are sourced through established, responsible suppliers and are subject to appropriate due diligence. We do not knowingly purchase, sell, or use specimens that have been illegally collected, unlawfully traded, or obtained in breach of wildlife-protection legislation.

Our specimens may come from legitimate sources, including UK hobbyist-level captive-breeding programmes, sustainable insect farms, responsible and lawful collection, and specimens that have died naturally. Wherever reasonably possible, we ask suppliers to provide clear information about a specimen’s provenance.

Where a species is protected or regulated under CITES or other wildlife-trade legislation, we only acquire, possess, or trade it when all applicable legal requirements have been met and the necessary permits, certificates, and documentation are available.

We do not support the unlawful, unethical, or unsustainable collection of endangered, protected, or otherwise vulnerable species. We are committed to complying with relevant conservation laws and making sourcing decisions that support the long-term protection of biodiversity.

By preserving and presenting specimens responsibly, we aim to encourage curiosity, respect, and a deeper appreciation of the extraordinary diversity of the natural world.

Nature deserves to be studied, appreciated, and protected.
